9 Reasons Why Most Nigerian Kids And Adolescence Hate Saturdays

Is what any logical human being would say but living in a Nigerian home defies all logic. Let’s convince you, shall we?

1. The way your mother will wake you up for Morning Devotion.

1. The way your mother will wake you up for Morning Devotion. You will think you offended somebody in the family.

The weekends are for resting but try telling that to your mother.

Come on, get up.

2. The Actual Morning Devotion

2. The Actual Morning Devotion Yes. Remember the one you could not do on weekdays because you didn’t want to be late for work?

Yes, you will do it on Saturday and it will take forever.

3. Environmental Saniation

3. Environmental Saniation Although this has been scrapped by the new government, this is still a thing in Nigerian homes. You will clean every corner of the house because it’s Saturday and you don’t have work.

Get cleaning.

4. Cooking

4. Cooking Your Nigerian mother might decide this is the Saturday she wants to fry akara and prepare pap for the whole neighborhood.

And thus begins your torture.

5. Errands

5. ErrandsImagine the corn for the pap hasn’t been ground, who will do that? Your father? No hunnay, You.

And if you manage to get out of that one, Nigerian parents are NEVER out of errands.

6. Laundry

6. LaundryYou thought you’d stay in bed until 2pm and then get up to take care of your laundry but you’ve been running about since 6am and suddenly, it’s 2pm already and you don’t have clean clothes.

This doesn’t apply to people that have a boutique for a wardrobe.

7. Your Job

7. Your JobYour Saturday is completely ruined when you realize you have to log in for work in the evening because you work the weekends.

8. Lectures

8. LecturesWhen your parents hardly see you from Monday to Friday, when do you think they will have time to give you valuable life lessons?

Saturday.

You’re welcome.
