EPL Power Rankings: Top 5 Goalkeepers In EPL After Matchday 29

The quality of goalkeeping in the Premier League has never been better, thanks to the likes of Alisson, David De Gea and Ederson. But who amongst them is at the top after 29 games?

A lot has happened in the Premier League with three league games in the space of seven days. Goalkeepers were especially at the centre of everything, thanks to Kepa-Sarri controversy in the League Cup final. But let’s not take anything away from the other top five goalkeepers, who were, once again exceptional for their respective teams.

5. Ben Foster (Watford):

The veteran goalkeeper has been simply exceptional this season and thanks to him, Watford are 8th in the table and level on points with Wolves in the race for best of the rest. Foster made 4 saves against Cardiff City in Watford’s 5-1 triumph and despite a thrashing 0-5 defeat to Liverpool, he made 5 saves against the Reds. The Englishman had to make just one save against Leicester City in his club’s 2-1 victory. Foster has now made 92 saves this season, fourth best in the league.

4. Ederson (Manchester City):

Manchester City proved why they are the Champions of England with two consecutive 1-0 victories against West Ham and Bournemouth. But in both the games, Ederson had hardly anything to do with chunk of possession for City and little to nothing from their oppositions in the attacking third. But the Brazilian has now kept 14 clean-sheets in the league and is second behind is compatriot, Alisson.

3. David De Gea (Manchester United):

David de Gea will be unhappy with his performances after the starndards he has set for himself. After a goalless draw against Liverpool, where the Spaniard had to make just one save and made 8 ball recoveries, Manchester United conceded goals against both Crystal Palace and Southampton. De Gea made two quality saves against the Eagles but could do nothing to save Southampton’s two goals. The 28-year old has now made 3rd best, 97 saves in the league.

2. Lukasz Fabianski (West Ham):

At the end of this season, Alisson might just end up winning the Golden Glove, thanks to his clean sheets. But if you look beyond statistics, Lukasz Fabianski has been the best goalkeeper so far. The Polish goalkeeper has saved most shots in the Premier League this season – 112! Ten more than the second placed shot-stopper. The 33-year old made five saves against Manchester City to prevent the score from getting anything beyond 1-0. Fabianski was at his best against both Fulham and Newcastle United as the Hammers picked up all six points from those two games.

1. Alisson (Liverpool):

Alisson is back at the top of the rankings but the Brazilian would rather sit at the top of the Premier League rankings than care about being the best goalkeeper in the league or winning the Golden Glove this season. The shot-stopper kept clean-sheets in all three games last week but with two of them being goalless draws against United and Everton, it has hurt the Red’s chances of winning the title. Alisson saved three shots each in all three games, with two exceptional saves against the Red Devils. The 26-year old is now a front contender to win the Golden Glove with 17 clean-sheets this season.
